The Sayram Lake scenic area, in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, recently implemented relevant measures and explored new types of clean energy, in an effort to better protect the ecological environment.

"The scenic area has implemented a grazing ban on 164,500 mu of core grasslands, relocated over 900 herder households and 200,000 livestock. An 80-kilometer fence has been set up around the lake, with 12 management stations, and visitors are prohibited from entering glaciers and permanent snow areas," said the management committee of Sayram Lake scenic area.

In addition, Sayram Lake has set up charging piles and parking lots around the lake, promoting the use of electric vehicles, bicycles, and other low-carbon tourism transportation methods.

The development of the scenic area focuses on ecological tourism and green tourism and the "full electrification" transformation covers all aspects of travel, accommodation and recreation, with the annual electricity consumption of the area standing at 36 million kilowatt-hours, said the State Grid Bortala Power Supply Co, the region's power operator.

In the future, building on the existing green energy infrastructure, the Sayram Lake scenic area is expected to realize zero-carbon emissions, it said.
