Zhou Limin, deputy mayor of Zhangjiakou city, Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov and Tsedenjav Sukhbaatar, Mongolian Ambassador to China, together with two Mongolian veterans who fought in the Anti-Fascist War and are now in their 90s, attended a wreath-laying ceremony at Sumeng Martyrs' Cemetery at Yehu Mountain, Zhangbei county, Zhangjiakou city, North China's Hebei province, on Tuesday.

The cemetery, built in 1945, covers 396 square meters and consists of five areas including a monument. It honors martyrs from the Soviet Union and Mongolia who died during the Chinese War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression during World War II.

The battle, known as the Langwogou campaign, took place on Aug 14, 1945 after the Soviet Union and Mongolia declared war on Japan. Union forces injured, captured or killed more than 860 members of the Japanese army while losing more than 60 men themselves.
