The Chinese government donated $2 million to the World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday to aid the fight against the Ebola virus in West Africa. The sum will be used to support the WHO's work in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

China has sent four batches of emergency aid, totaling $122 million, to as many as 13 countries and international organizations including the United Nations, WHO and African Union, according to Wu Hailong, Ambassador of the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations Office in Geneva. More than 700 experts and medical workers have been sent from China in Ebola-ravaged regions.

China hopes the international community, especially developed countries, take practical actions to strengthen support to Africa and win the battle through cooperation, said Wu.
