Alberta is rolling out a slew of winter tourism experiences to woo Chinese visitors.

The theme of its winter fun revolves around ski and recreational activities, a local tourism official says.

Helicopter sightseeing, cross-country skiing, dogsledding and ice-climbing experiences will be offered to the public.

Locals usually have the most fun in winter by engaging in various outdoors activities and celebrations, says Darlene Fedoroshyn, the business development director for the Alberta Tourism Authority's Asia Pacific region.

Western Alberta is flanked by the Rocky Mountains, while expansive prairies cover the east. The area features UNESCO World Heritage sites, plus unique festivals and food.

Winter visitors can opt for snowboarding down the waist of mountains, and meander in the snow-clad forests, or they can hike in the valleys, take in glistening frozen waterfalls, or ride dogsleds across frozen lakes.

Located in the west of Canada, Alberta offers abundant natural tourism attractions. The famous Canadian Rockies run across the province and offer magnificent winter experiences.

The Banff National Park, one of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks, has turquoise glacial lakes, picturesque mountain residence areas and abundant wildlife, where visitors can enjoy winter sightseeing, hiking, skiing and camping in breathtaking mountain scenery.
