In 1904, American John Jacob Astor IV opened the first St. Regis hotel on New York's Fifth Avenue as his expression of the finest hospitality, art and architecture. Over the century, the brand has been delivering an unparalleled luxury hotel experience all over the world, and is set to impress Chengdu with its grand opening today.

Located in the heart of Chengdu's business district and just steps away from Tianfu Square and Chunxi pedestrian walkway, the 29-story St. Regis Chengdu stands as a new icon of the city and the address for ultimate luxury.

The opening ceremony and gala featured a bevy of international and local celebrities, influencers and tastemakers, including Chinese actress Li Bingbing, the president of the Sichuan Culinary Association Li Shuren, and Paul James, Global Brand Leader of St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, and W Hotels Worldwide.

"We are proud to continue the storied legacy of the St. Regis brand with the opening of The St. Regis Chengdu in Southwest China," Paul James said. "This debut raised the bar yet again for modern luxury, bespoke service and refined elegance for a new generation of luxury travelers."

The luxury experience at the St. Regis comes not only from the flawless management and design, but also the very special bespoke service and time-honored heritage.

From the signature butler service, the perfection of a Bloody Mary, the association of the sport of polo, to the traditon of afteroon tea and champion sabrage, the St. Regis has striven to create an emotional connection with each guest.

The rich heritage of the St. Regis is also well infused with distinct cultural influences and local flavors of each unique destination.

The St. Regis Chengdu boasts 279 guestrooms and suites, and each one features a cuddly plush giant panda, of which Chengdu is proud. Six restaurants and bars offer a wide selection of food and wine, from international cuisine, fine liquor and cigars, to authentic savory Sichuan specialities.

"With six St Regis hotels and resorts now in operation in Greater China and eight more in the pipeline, we will more than double our brand portfolio in the region in the coming years," said Qian Jin, President of Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Greater China. "We are confident that Starwood's ultra-luxury brand St. Regis is perfectly positioned to meet the strong demand for luxury travel in Greater China for both domestic and inbound travel."
