Canada upgrades visa policy for Chinese tourists

By Li Jin | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2014-02-20 15:23

Since Feb 6, Canada has automatically upgraded single-entry visas to multiple-entry visas for Chinese visitors, making it much easier to travel in Canada.

With the multi-entry visa, eligible visitors can stay in Canada each time for a maximum of six months, and the length of visa validity has been extended to a 10-year maximum.

With the preferable visa policy, the tourist bureau of British Columbia, the westernmost Canadian province, has put forwards 13 in-depth travel routes for Chinese tourists, covering six themes such as indigenous culture exploration, wine-tasting and family-friendly trips.

Among them are a bear viewing tour at Telegraph Cove on north Vancouver Island, swimming with salmon in the Campbell River, which is touted as the “Salmon Capital of the World” and a paddling tour of Meares Island while exploring ancient forests. Destination British Columbia, working with Chinese domestic tourist agencies, will roll out a series of discounts and packages to comprehensively promote the 13 travel routes.
