Beijing Coca Cola celebrated its 35th anniversary on April 15. All employees reviewed the past and new goals were set. The company plans to develop a world-class bottling plant by 2020.

At the ceremony, the company introduced how it overcame one obstacle after another when setting up shop and how its sales and market share went up year after year after it settled down in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (also known as E-town).

The company had sold 134 million standard boxes of products as of last year -- that translates to 147 cups for every person in Beijing. Sales have maintained an annual growth of 6.4 percent. Market share reached 29.3 percent in 2015, with soda water’s share hitting 70.6 percent, more than three times that of its rivals. The company’s growth has surpassed the average level in China. Sales income was 1.48 billion yuan last year, with 101 million yuan in profit. The company upgraded the old ring-pull can production line in April so that it can now make its ZERO and Coke Light products on the line, and can add more products in the future.

“The 35th anniversary is not an end but a new starting point,” said an official with the company, which has set new targets of a 32 percent share of the non-alcohol instant beverage market, a 15 percent profit margin and an 82 percent rate of employee retention. It is striving to become a world-class leader in China, operating a cutting-edge plant.

The company will develop more super products to power its future development. The existing vertical management model will expand to all catering, school and business travel channels in the next one or two years. The company will develop brand product dealers in Beijing and use vertical management and regional product dealerships to ensure seamless coverage in Beijing, so higher sales will be possible. A total of 387 million yuan will be spent from 2016 to 2020 to upgrade the Beijing plant’s production efficiency and capacity. A juice line will be set up in future, and bottle and cap production projects are expected to be added to pave the way for greater development.
