Chinese soldiers' shrine home after 71 years

The shrine of 202 Chinese Expeditionary soldiers killed in Myanmar during World War II returns to Nanyue Martyrs' Memorial Hall after 71 years at a ceremony in Hunan province on July 7, 2013. Those soldiers gave their life at the Battle of Yenangyaung in 1942, a rescue mission which saved 7,000 British soldiers, and 500 prisoners and civilians from the Japanese in the Myanmar campaign during World War II. The ceremony fell on various anniversaries – the 74th anniversary of Lugouqiao Incident in 1937 which marked the beginning of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the 68th anniversary of the end of World War II.
