China sees a growing number of returnees

Han Fei

After studying and working seven years in Malaysia, I was undecided if I should go home or stay in Malaysia. As I finally got home, I thought there were three key reasons to explain my decision. Like most in the post-80 generation, I am the only child in my family. With my parents growing old, I hunting jobs that would bring me back home to be near them. Second, leaving China at age 18,, when I’d developed my own philosophy and values, I could not integrate into mainstream Malaysian culture and society, although I lived a cozy life and seemingly got on well on every aspect. Third, after studying Economics several years, I found it was difficult to find a decent job in Malaysia, not to mention in financial institutions, which is prohibited for foreigners. And, one more reason is that considering China has had rapid economic growth in recent years, I thought maybe there are more opportunities at home than abroad, so I finally decided to go back to China. Now, I’ve got a job with a good salary in investment.
