The month-long Shanghai Shopping Festival bursting with bargains, discounts and sales is set to take place in the city's Pudong New Area from Sept 9, creating a paradise for the city's shopaholics, according to Pudong Times.

A music concert, a fashion show for Chinese designers, and a lantern show will be staged for guests at the opening ceremony.

Other activities such as a shopping talent competition, a lifestyle festival and a beer carnival will be staged over the course of the month.

More than 20 shopping malls in Shanghai including Wanda in Zhoupu district and Changtai Plaza in Pudong will take part in the festival and offer exclusive discounts to shoppers.
