An online service for Kunshan residents — Kunshan BBS — wanted to help people celebrate the Duanwu Festival, on June 9, so it arranged for parents and children to have a pleasant holiday experience together at Dianshan Lake town.

The most exciting part of the day was a hot air balloon ride in the morning by the Dianshan Lakein the town.

Then in the village of Liurudun , the people were separated into four groups and invited into village homes, where they enjoyed some local cuisine cooked on a wood-fired stove.

The vegetables for lunch were freshly picked from the host's garden and afterwards, the people got a chance to try their hand at making rice dumplings and preserved eggs with the villagers. They then went out to the paddy field to catch some fish with a net.

In the afternoon, they moved on to Music Square with a grassy riverbank nearby, where they enjoyed a leisurely stroll, or some skateboarding, BBQ-ing, and games along Lakeside Ring Rd.

People could also take photos of the family activities to remember the beautiful day. There will be more of these events this year, with the next one coming later this month.
