Nandan county in Hechi, Guangxi, held training classes for Yao ethnic embroidery at Ganhe Yao Clothing Demonstration Base from June 25 to 28.

The training classes were organized by the Nandan Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection and Inheritance Center and Guangxi Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center.

A total of 42 Baiku Yao women attended the classes. He Jinxiu, the autonomous regional level Yao clothing inheritor, taught embroidery and Tang Xiaoling and Wang Suchun from Guangxi Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center gave full-course instruction.

Baiku Yao is named from the knee-length white trousers worn by men. Yao people are skilled at knitting, dying and embroidery so that their clothes are with unique characteristics. With a long history, well-made Baiku Yao clothing has rich patterns reflecting the minority group's traditional culture. In November, 2014, Nandan county's Yao clothing skills were included in the directory of national representative intangible cultural heritage items.
