'Sherlock' finally to return

The highly anticipated British drama Sherlock will return to the TV screen on January 1, 2017, BBC unexpectedly announced during a popular food program The Great British Bake Off finale on October 31.

Starting with the lines “Did you miss me?” said by James Moriarty, antagonist of the TV series, the 90-second teaser created a sense of mystery and British humor.

However, the fourth season may be enveloped in a dark atmosphere, according to Steven Moffat, screenwriter of Sherlock. Words emerged during the trailer that said: “Everything they know will be tested... Everyone they know is under threat.”

The latest season consists of three episodes. The first one is titled The Six Thatcher, an adaptation of The Six Napoleons in the original work written by Arthur Conan Doyle.

When talking about the future plan, Moffat said that he was not sure how far the drama would go, but he is personally willing to continue.

Starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson, ten episodes of Sherlock have been produced so far, with three-part series airing in 2010, 2012 and 2014, and a special episode airing on Jan 1, 2016.
