Smooth operators steal woman's ATM card

Updated: 2009-07-15 16:33 Police in Pengbu, Zhejiang province, are looking for three men who stole a woman's ATM card by distracting her attention. Late last month, Li was withdrawing money from an ATM when the swindlers came and stood behind her. One of them noted the password Li entered, while the other deliberately dropped something on the floor. He asked the woman if the item on the floor belonged to her, and when she turned to look, the third accomplice removed her card from the machine and inserted another invalid one. After Li left their sight, the trio went to another ATM and withdrew 2,000 yuan ($293) from her card. Police have obtained photographs of the suspects through cameras in the ATM and have sought public help for clues on their whereabouts. (Qianjiang Evening News) |
