China's tourism book released in Beijing

By Yang Feiyue | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2017-01-19 09:40

Chinese Academy of Social Sciences published a tourism book on Jan 17.

The book is about tourism development analysis and forecast during the 2016-2017 period.

The book pointed out that China's inbound tourism market is expected to enjoy a 4 percent growth in 2016 over the previous year, and tourism foreign exchange is poised to see a 5-percent growth.

Visa-free transit policy, departure tax refund scheme, and yuan depreciation have increased domestic tourism product's competitiveness, the book points out.

Belt and Road Initiative and domestic tourism promotion have also played a positive role.

Compared with inbound tourism, China's outbound tourism has slowed down in growth rate since 2015, according to the book.

The number of outbound tourists grew by 9.0 percent in 2015. Previously, the figure was above 10 percent.
