A grand exhibition featuring sculptures from China and India during the period of 400-700 AD opened to the public on Wednesday at the Palace Museum in Beijing.

The 175 pieces of exquisite stone sculptures are provided by 35 cultural relic units in China and India. They showcase the Buddhism sculpture art from China's Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534) to early Tang Dynasty (618-907), as well as India's Gupta and post-Gupta period, and reveal the cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The exhibition, the first to show the contrast between China and India in the same period, is on display at the Meridian Gate exhibition hall.
