Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi started back-to-back visits to Namibia, the Republic of the Congo, Chad and Nigeria on Sunday. The seven-day trip represents the 35th consecutive time that Africa has been the first overseas destination of the year for the Chinese foreign minister.

The four countries Wang is visiting are all friendly partners of China in various fields. And the Chinese foreign minister's visit is expected to deepen practical cooperation by advancing the implementation of the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Summit in September during which the Chinese leader put forward 10 partnership actions. These encompass various fields, including trade, industry chains, connectivity, green development, health, agriculture, people's livelihoods and security,

Wang's trip is therefore expected to put meat on the bones of these in terms of cooperation with the four host countries. So the visit is seen as being of strong reference value to other African countries.

Notably, Beijing has recently stressed comprehensively advancing high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative at the fourth de facto work conference on the hallmark initiative that has been central to its cooperation with other developing countries since it was proposed in 2013. It is anticipated that the message of the conference will be reflected in the outcomes of Wang's visits, as Beijing stressed at the meeting that cooperative projects under the framework of the BRI should have benefits for both China and the host countries.

Thus new cooperation projects between China and Africa require greater efficiency in their planning, coordination and management mechanisms so as to create space for win-win development at a higher level, and with greater resilience and sustainability.

China has always maintained an open and inclusive attitude in conducting cooperation with Africa to address the continent's development gap. Its cooperation is not directed against any third party. It is aimed at building a community with a shared future for mankind.

In light of that, African countries should work with China to implement the 10 partnership actions proposed by China, which will help both sides advance on their respective modernization paths.
