At the end of last month, the Second Asia-Europe International Teacher Education Forum was held at Northwest Normal University. Over 130 experts and scholars from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Iceland, and other countries gathered from Sept 28 to 30 to discuss new opportunities and challenges in teacher education in the digital age.

Recognizing teachers as the primary resource for educational development, Gansu province has prioritized teacher development to enhance its level of educational openness. The total number of foreign teachers teaching in Gansu and teachers sent abroad for further studies amounts to nearly 500 individuals. As a result, the international perspectives and educational standards of teachers in Gansu have been steadily improving.

Northwest Normal University has been actively engaging in international cooperation, establishing high-level partnerships with more than 70 overseas universities and research institutions. The university has taken a leading role in international exchanges among provincial higher education institutions in Gansu.

Under the theme "Opportunities, Challenges, and Future: Teacher Education in the Digital Era," the forum invited renowned experts from home and abroad to deliver keynote speeches. In six sub-forums, 42 experts delved into hot topics such as generative artificial intelligence, teacher education curriculum reform, and technology-empowered education.

This forum provided a valuable platform for participants to exchange ideas and explore the opportunities and challenges facing teacher education in the digital age. The attending experts hope that through this forum, they can contribute wisdom to the innovative development of education and promote international cooperation in teacher education.
