China to launch investigation on Canadian imports
China will launch an anti-dumping investigation into rapeseed imports from Canada in accordance with the relevant domestic laws, as well as the World Trade Organization rules, stated by the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday.
China will also initiate an anti-dumping investigation into specific Canadian chemical products, following requests from domestic industries, said the ministry in an online statement.
The Canadian government announced in late August that it will take restrictive measures which include new tariffs on electric vehicles, as well as steel and aluminum products imported from China.
In the statement, a spokesperson from the Ministry of Commerce warned that China will take all necessary measures to defend the legitimate rights and interests of its companies.
Since Canada has imposed discriminatory unilateral restrictions on imports from China, China will initiate an anti-discrimination investigation into the relevant Canadian measures and will take actions based on the actual situation, said the statement.
