Deal gives Port a place on JD's portal
The Douro Valley in northern Portugal is known for its spectacular rolling landscape of rivers and steep slopes that commands a feeling of peace.
The region also occupies a space in the hearts of wine lovers around the world for its centuries-old wine making culture and many indigenous grape varieties, which earned it a UNESCO World Heritage Site listing in 2001.
One of Douro's best known wines is Port and soon, aficionados in China will be able to sip the fine, sweet wine directly from the Douro Valley more conveniently, thanks to a deal recently signed between a Chinese online retailer and a noted Portuguese vineyard.
The agreement reached last week will make Port from the Quinta do Noval vineyard, which dates back to 1715 and is located in the heart of the Douro Valley, available on JD.com, as part of the site's aim to address increasing demand for fine wines from buyers of different ages.
