More than 4,800 South Korean cars departed from the port of Incheon and arrived in a vehicle terminal of Dalian in Liaoning province recently, with a plan for them to be further transported to North America.

This further marked the Dalian terminal as a place for international transit services for transporting cars from South Korea to North America since 2006.

Dalian has several strategic orientations — an international shipping center in Northeast Asia, an international logistics center in Northeast Asia and a regional financial center. Such orientations have been designed to help to promote high-quality development over the past decade.

Wang Shaocheng, director of Dalian's transport bureau, said Dalian's ports have handled more than 96 percent of the cargo containers for foreign trade, all the imported and exported vehicles and more than 60 percent of imported crude oil for the Northeast China region.

Brian Clark from Canada came to Dalian in 2016. He runs a cafe in the city's Jinpu New Area and lives in the picturesque Jinshitan with his family. He said he has felt the richness of Dalian's industrial chains and the convenience of port transportation.

"A partner of mine wanted to order emission-reduction devices used for coffee machines. I just talked with my friends in Dalian and soon found a local manufacturer that can produce them," he said. "This shows that the city has complete industrial chains for everything thanks to its well-established transport network."
