Northern destinations join hands to promote winter tourism
Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei jointly kicked off a winter tourism promotion campaign on December 11.
The event was held by culture and tourism authorities in the three regions and aimed to integrate winter tourism resources and boost winter sports and culture in advance of the country's holding of the 2022 Winter Olympics.
The campaign focused on innovation and rolled out winter experiences featuring culture, tourism, sports and technology across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
Northeastern Beijing's Miyun district has rolled out ski, sightseeing, health preservation, homestay and gourmet food shopping experiences for winter vacationers during the campaign.
"We will combine winter resources, rural tourism and sports events this year," Miyun's publicity department head Ge Junkai said.
Pinggu district in the northeast of the capital has prepared organic vegetable picking, peace flower and chrysanthemum blossom sightseeing and local fairs to show visitors local life, in addition to ski and other winter sports.
Tianjin has prepared various winter carnivals and ski competitions this year, while Hebei's Chengde city has developed 18 winter tourism routes integrating royal family history, hot springs, folk customs and shopping to spice up traveler experiences.
