Wu Jieping Medical Award and Wu Jieping Medical Innovation Award were released in Beijing on Friday to honor China's top medical personnel.
Founded by Wu Jieping Medical Foundation in 2017, the honor has been awarded to 16 winners. As one of the sub-awards, the innovation award was launched in 2012 to highlight those under 50 accomplishing medical innovation achievement with socioeconomic performance.
From this year, the prize money has been raised from 200,000 yuan to 500,000 for medical award winners and 100,000 to 200,000 for innovation winners.
This year's award goes to Cheng Tianmin and Chen Saijuan, both academicians from Chinese Academy of Engineering, for their contribution to the country's nuclear protection medicine and haematology research respectively.
Six other experts won the innovation award.
Wu Jieping is one of the founders of Chinese urinary surgery science and he made remarkable contributions to the development of urinary surgery and medical science in China.
